• On several occasions since 2000, the privately-owned field adjacent to the nature reserve has suffered from an encampment of travellers. Sometimes these travellers spill over into the reserve which causes damage to the hedgerows and planted trees and shrubs.
  • Whether they encamp in the reserve or not, the travellers’ visits usually result in bird and bat boxes being smashed up, as well as unpleasant rubbish building up to varying degrees – depending on how long it takes to evict them!
  • We can only hope that the neighbouring landowner’s attempts to secure his site will be effective in keeping them out in future.
